In Year 1 we have been exploring some features of our environment that change over time. As we learn about the months and seasons in our unit about time, it seemed a perfect opportunity to bring attention to blossom. A symbol of the changing season here is the efflorescence of blossom.
During Playful Reflection, children have the opportunity to engage with the above provocation to encourage observation of some blossom. Here children can create their own blossom using scrunched up tissue paper dipped in glue and stuck to a cutting from a fruit tree. They are encouraged to look closely at the real blossom and make their own observations about what they notice.
